There are several locations in Oklahoma that mark pivotal points in our nation’s history. One such place is the Honey Springs Battlefield site in Checotah. It’s there you can explore the history of the Civil War in Indian Territory. The battlefield is about 5 miles in length covering approximately 1100 acres. The battle of Honey Springs was one of the most culturally diverse battles or conflicts to take place during the Civil War. You can take a self-guided tour on the six trails or request a historian come accompany you and your group.
